Why do we set up multiple views for a single property?

This blog is deprecated. Read the updated blog here.

Google Analytics automatically sets one unfiltered view for every property in your account but it allows you to set up to 25 views for each property.

Here’s why you would want to set up multiple views:

Raw data filter contains all kind of data without any filter implementation. Websites, however, have a spam filter for their data which excludes any kind of spam traffic and they have IP filters which excludes data from different hostnames.

Since there are different hostnames for different purposes, you can set up multiple views to see and compare data from the respective hostnames separately.

You can also set separate views for a guest and a logged user to compare their data. Similarly, you can set different views for a paid user (performs transactions at least once) and a free user to see how differently these users behave on site.
