If you have just redesigned your website and would like to move from .co.uk, to .com
For Instances: http://abc.co.uk and we will be switching to https://abc.com
Firstly you have all the proper checks for migration, prepared the redirect map and everything.
Secondly there some question comes around;
How do we switch Google Analytics from old to new domain, without losing GA data and make the whole process seamless?
What's the best practices procedure for submitting to Search Console?
Here are some valuable answer for the above questions.
If you wish to continue tracking with the same GA Property for continuity of data,
Simply need to change the website URL on the Property Settings page and also where it is entered on each View's Setting Page.. and then also add an annotation in the GA interface noting what the change was and the date.
Follow the under steps to change property name and URL within Google Analytics accounts.
Sign in to google analytics account and go to the current Google Analytics Property you’d like to transfer the domain name for.
Tap on the Admin panel at the bottom of the main menu.
Go to the Property Settings and on click Property settings you can find the property name and default URL.
Replace the Property Name with the new property and the Default URL too.
Go to the View and click View Settings
Replace View name and Website’s URL if you have multiple properties. similarly you need to change each and every view settings with new name and Website’s URL.
That is it! You've replaced the property and view name of your Google Analytics Property and its View!
